Hustle Bustle

So, again, things are crazy around here and I have neglected the blog for a couple of weeks. But I do have a pretty good excuse.....we are MOVING! So bittersweet...as I freaking LOOOVE Charleston. However, we will be moving to the upstate, to Greenville, where we will be close to family! And it's not like we are moving to some po-dunk town, Greenville is a great place to live, we definitely can't complain and we are really excited!! However, everytime I have been out and about in Charleston this week, I have gotten pretty sad and realized all the big and small things that I love about this city. Here is a list of just some of the things that I will dearly miss, besides the obvious wonderful friends and people in Charleston...
1. Charleston Power Yoga & their amazing instructors

2. Marion Square Farmer's Market on Saturdays (especially the donuts!)

4. Shopping at II Brunettes

5. Square Onion's Goose sandwich

6. Dog "Off-leash" hours at Sullivan's

7. Home Team's BBQ nachos

8. Al Di La's Fettuccine Bolognese

10. Boating, Sunbathing, etc...

I seriously could go on and on and on.....and maybe I will in another post coming up! ;-) The restaurants & shopping here are just out of this world. obvi.
No worries though, we will be back.....to live on Poe Ave, Sullivan's Island one day! :)

We also had a birthday to celebrate this week...my wonderful husband, Nelson, turned 28 on Tuesday! We celebrated by having dinner at Fulton Five, which was PHENOMENAL- if you live in Charleston or visit, you must add it to your list! And afterwards we grabbed a drink with friends at Oak Barrel Tavern in Avondale where I had a TASTY Raspberry Wheat beer! And I didn't' even take a single picture!!! Can you believe it!? So unlike me...I need to get back on it!
This weekend is going to be hectic packing and checking off my "things to do and places to go before I leave Charleston" list.
But I promise to check back in before Christmas ;-) which is ONLY 1 week away. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Happy Holidays!!

goodbye november

I feel like I have completely neglected my blog. I feel guilty, but I just get REALLY excited about the holidays and have loved being around friends and family...that's my excuse. My Thanksgiving Break was a tease and made me only want to stay home until Christmas. And although I am loving my pediatric rotation, I am pumped that there are only 2 more weeks!

Nelson and I both had a whole week for Thanksgiving Break, which was awesome, because we were able to make the rounds with family and friends.

Sweet lil' Mia is getting SO big and practically running around the house!

Thanksgiving!
Out at the farm on Thanksgiving Day!

Erynn is part of the fam :) We adopted her and Molly!

And we even started a new tradition...Hiking! Well, this year only Nelson, Dori, and I went, but we are making the rest of the family join us next year. We drove (what seemed like forever) up to Panther Town Valley at Lake Toxaway, NC.
HIKING the day after Thanksgiving
Hugo and Maggie clearly hated hiking. Maggie slept for days. We hiked about 6 miles and these 2 probably did about 15 miles!
We almost lost Hugo to the waterfall behind us. Another couple saw him ROLL down it and catch himself on the last ledge!!! He can survive anything! Nelson had to go rescue him and he was ready to continue the hike!

Nelson and I
my sister, Dori and I

My brother-in-law, Aaron, got a motorcycle....Nelson looks pretty tough on it doesn't he? He is practically one of the Sons of Anarchy ;-)
(I had to tell him not to smile...haha)
Clemson/Carolina Game
Our lil' Clemson fan ;-) I can tell you she was the only Clemson fan smiling at the end of that game.
She is ALWAYS smiling and babbling these days. LOVE it! Cannot wait to celebrate Ruby's 1st Christmas!!!! :)

Also, some random exciting news, I am now a CERTIFIED YOGA INSTRUCTOR and will be teaching the Free Community Class at CPY on Fridays at 4:15 in December so come get your flow on with me! :)

....MUST HAVE....
Feather Earrings. Every girl needs a pair. I'm not really into the whole hair feathers. Love them on other people, but just not something I think I would do, but these earrings...I can handle. They are so unique and BEAUTIFUL! The problem is picking a pair- there are so many different feathers and color combos. You can find them at Augusta20 in Greenville, SC.

....MUST HEAR....
I heard this cover on one of my FAVORITE shows, Sons of Anarchy. If you don't watch it, you should. I know you may be thinking "I'm not really into motorcycle gangs". Believe me, I felt the same way, but its ADDICTING and so good! So Netflix it today! ;-)
I apologize for this cheesy YouTube video with shots from the show, but at least Jax (yes, the hardass with long blonde hair) is nice to look at!!

Happy December!!!!

Smolder

So this is pretty random, but I thought I would let fellow Charlestonians know that Smolder, a fashion boutique in Ion, Mount Pleasant is closing. It is right across from Square Onion which I visit very often, but had never been in this boutique...assuming it was pricey and possibly out of my fashion comfort zone. And I was right. However, since they are closing, EVERYTHING is 80% off. So, if you feel the urge to get a good deal and you are in the area, you should check it out. They have some good jeans, jackets, dresses, etc... Alot of cute stuff that I may wear if I lived in New York or LA, but that I think simply doesn't pass here in Charleston. I would say the overall style of the boutique is edgy high fashion, but then I felt like some of the items were a little "mommy" style.

Lately....

So, I've kind of neglected blogging in the last 2 weeks. I guess that is what happens when you get a "job"/paying to work....so goes life as a graduate student. So besides my pediatric rotation, this is what's been going on lately.....

Wofford Homecoming was a BLAST! It was so great to hang out with good friends!

Didn't watch a single second of the game. Basically didn't even recognize that there was one going on at all. Tailgating with friends is more important! :)
Saturday night, we went to the Terrier Ball...
Yes, we even broke into our old locker room. :)
Just like old times!

Also, I taught my very first official Yoga class last Friday, the Community Class at Charleston Power Yoga. I CANNOT wait to start teaching more! Only 1 more weekend left of Teacher Training and it is so bittersweet! So excited to finally be certified, but I truly ENJOY the weekends FULL of Yoga and am going through this training with some amazing people! I'm gonna miss spending ALL weekend with them to be honest!

Recent obsession..Minnetonka boots (or really just boots in general). Which ones? ALL of them! haha...of course. Which ones do y'all like?? I'm not too sure I can pull these boots off, but I just may have to try! Because of course Kate Moss, Rachel Bilson, Lauren Conrad, Kourtney Kardashian, etc.... look adorable in them!!

New food obsession...
If you have a Trader Joe's...you MUST try these!
SOOOOO yummy!

MUST HEAR...and watch!
It's slightly inappropriate, but it's SO absurd that it's funny :-) and I CANNOT get the song out of my head.
I heard it last night when I returned to HIP HOP!!! They have a new location downtown, which is much more convenient! I had SO much fun!! And remembered why I LOVED hip hop so much! I'm not so sure I have "swagga" but I try. haha ;-) Below is the dance we did last night. The energy in these classes is amazing!

Have an awesome weekend!!!

HOMECOMING!!!

Besides my excitement for Homecoming this upcoming weekend, tomorrow is also the 1st day off of this 3 day fruit cleanse, or "fruit feast", as some would call it. Charleston Power Yoga is running a 40 day program challenge, which involves this 3-day fruit cleanse, and my AMAZING husband promised to do it with me. I figured he would try it for a day MAYBE and then back out, but he stuck it out with me, yet another reason why I love him! The cleanse was definitely A LOT harder than it sounded for me. I think my main problem was that I didn't really concentrate on the FEAST part and probably didn't eat enough over the last 3 days because I have been STARVING and craving everything bad...pizza, pasta, nachos, sandwiches, you name it. I honestly haven't seen a huge change in my energy or mood, which was nice, considering I just started my rotation in pediatric therapy, requiring a lot of energy, creativity, and patience! But on a side note I LOOOVE peds so far, as anticipated! Who wouldn't love playing with kids and acting like a kid all day?

Secondly, Wofford Homecoming is this weekend and I haven't been in years, so I am pumped!! It is Nelson's 5 year reunion which is hard to believe that we are getting so old, but so goes life! I am soo excited to see Wofford's new development...from pictures I cannot even recognize some parts of the campus anymore!
Reminiscing a bit for Homecoming... some of my favorite Wofford times and Wofford people! :)

Keith Urban Concert with my volleyball girls!
(We definitely got in trouble for this one...)

Theta Formal with Nelson

Hanging out at the Extended Stay :-) Our home for a semester.

Happy Halloween!

Fall Wedding at Cabin Ridge: The Gomes :)

This weekend we made a trek up the mountains to The Cabin Ridge in Hendersonville for a dear friend's wedding. The weather cold not have been any more perfect! Friday night, College friends, Katherine, Bryan, Summer, and I met Anna up at the cabin for the rehearsal and ended up staying the night in the quaint little cabin with well water, no electricity, and an outdoor shower.... and, we actually had a blast! We even built our own fire!
The wedding was on Saturday afternoon, was perfect and "SO ANNA!" The beautiful bride wore little birdies in her hair, a hippie white dress, and white moccasins! You have to know Anna to understand :-) Here are some pictures from the weekend!

Me, Anna, Bryan, and Katherine at the Rehearsal
Anna and her sister/MOH, Alex

Unbelievable sunset!

Cuddled up in the cabin! :-)
Our own little campfire!

Beautiful Fall leaves in the NC mountains!

Anna's awesome Minnetonka moccasins!

Cake Time! David and Anna Gomes
I think I can speak for all of us in saying that we are SOO happy for Anna! David and Anna are an amazing couple and we wish them all the happiness in the world!! We are all so thankful to have been included in their special day!

I spent the rest of the weekend hanging out with my family in Greenville! And, yes, as I promised we attempted putting Ruby in a pumpkin.....
So curious! At this point she had no idea of our intention with this pumpkin ;-)

This face says it all! Maybe next year....
(I promise we did NOT torture her! haha We put her in, snapped some pictures..and took her out! She was NOT having it!)
Still made for some adorable pictures though! ;-)
Have a great week!

XOXO-
